  • Where story, body, & ancestry meet.

Some stories live beneath words - carried in muscle, rhythm, and silence.

Stepping Into the Shadows is an advanced EMDR training for clinicians ready to move beyond protocol and listen more deeply to what the body remembers and what the ancestors still whisper. Over two days, we’ll slow down, breathe together, and explore how trauma, identity, and liberation move through us - restoring rhythm, balance, and connection in the healing process.

  • Who It’s For

This advanced workshop is open only to clinicians who have completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training.

It’s designed for therapists who want to deepen their EMDR practice through a somatic and liberation-centered lens, and who feel called to integrate culture, body, and story into their work.

  • What We’ll Explore

    • The rhythm and flow of EMDR’s 8 Phases through an embodied, liberation-centered lens
    • How trauma, identity, and ancestry shape what the nervous system holds and releases
    • Somatic storytelling as a bridge between memory, movement, and meaning
    • Interweaves that center voice, power, and ancestral wisdom
    • Grounding practices that bring body and spirit into conversation
    • The therapist’s own body as a compass for attunement and repair

Stepping Into the Shadows: EMDR, Somatic Storytelling, and the Art of Liberation

A call to the clinicians ready to honor what lives beneath the surface - where story, body, and ancestry meet.

Overview

This isn’t about mastering a new technique—it’s about expanding your relationship to the work. Together, we’ll honor the stories that live in your clients, your lineage, and your own body. Through story, movement, and embodied connection, EMDR becomes not just a method, but a practice of remembering and repair.

Grounded in EMDR’s 8 Phases, this training integrates somatic storytelling, cultural attunement, and liberation psychology to deepen both clinical skill and personal embodiment. Participants will learn to navigate the intersections of trauma, identity, and power through a framework that honors resilience, ancestral connection, and the art of liberation.

Includes

  • 12 EMDRIA-Approved Continuing Education Hours (CEs)
  • Live instruction with Jacqui Johnson & Selina Stanford
  • Experiential learning through guided somatic storytelling, group reflection, and embodied practice
  • Certificate of completion within 14 days of attendance

Who It’s For

This advanced workshop is open only to clinicians who have completed an EMDRIA-Approved Basic Training.

It’s designed for therapists who want to deepen their EMDR practice through a somatic and liberation-centered lens, and who feel called to integrate culture, body, and story into their work.

How We’ll Move Through the Work

Day 1: Entering the Work
We begin by revisiting EMDR’s 8 Phases through a somatic and cultural lens. Together, we’ll explore how trauma lives in the body, how ancestral memory shows up in session, and how to follow the rhythm of healing rather than force it. Expect storytelling, live demos, and collective reflection.

Day 2: Integration & Practice
Through small-group labs and guided practice, you’ll apply liberation-centered interweaves, experiment with grounding techniques, and deepen your ability to hold complexity. We’ll close with an embodied integration ritual to honor what’s been released and reclaimed.

Learning in Community

  • Short, conversational teaching moment - less lecture, more dialogue
  • Movement, music, and body-based grounding woven throughout
  • Case reflections that feel human and connected, not clinical detachment
  • Space for pause, breath, and integration
  • Collective wisdom and storytelling circles

You’ll Leave With

  • A renewed relationship to EMDR as a living, relational process
  • Grounding and regulation practices you can use immediately with clients
  • A deeper understanding of how systemic and ancestral trauma live in the body
  • Confidence to bring your full, embodied self into the therapy space
