EMDR Intensive Cancellation Policy
Commitment to Flexibility and Support
At Sankofa Healing Studio, we understand that life happens and schedules can shift unexpectedly. Our goal is to honor both your time and ours by offering a cancellation policy that balances flexibility with fairness.
Cancellation and Rescheduling by Participant
Advanced Cancellation (7 Days):
Cancel at least 7 days in advance to receive a refund, minus a $50 administrative fee. This small fee helps cover processing costs while allowing us to maintain flexible scheduling for all clients.
Late Cancellation for Credit (Less than 7 Days):
If you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled session, a refund cannot be issued. However, you will receive partial credit toward a future intensive or consultation, valid for one year from the original booking. This option still honors your investment and gives you space to reschedule when you’re ready.
Last-Minute Cancellation (Less than 3 Days):
Cancellations made within 3 days of your scheduled intensive are not eligible for refunds or credit. We encourage you to reach out as early as possible if your schedule changes, so we can best support your needs.
Rescheduling Requests
More than 7 Days’ Notice:
You may reschedule your session once at no additional cost if your request is made more than 7 days before your appointment.
Within 3 Days:
Please email us directly to discuss possible rescheduling options. While availability cannot be guaranteed on short notice, we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Grievances
Grievance Policy and Community Accountability
At Sankofa Healing Studio, under the transformative justice leadership of Jacqui Johnson, LPC, ATR-BC, we are committed to maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in all therapeutic relationships. We align with EMDRIA grievance procedures and uphold principles of transformative and healing justice, ensuring that every client feels safe, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
Addressing Concerns in EMDR Intensive Therapy
We recognize that therapy can be a deeply vulnerable process, and at times, questions or concerns may arise. If you experience discomfort or dissatisfaction related to your EMDR Intensive or therapeutic experience, we invite you to speak directly with your therapist as soon as possible so that we can collaboratively address and resolve the concern in real time.
If the concern cannot be resolved within session, you are welcome to submit a written grievance for review. Our approach to resolving concerns prioritizes care, accountability, and transparency—always centering your well-being and right to quality care.
Procedure for Filing a Grievance
Formal grievances can be submitted via email to admin@sankofahealingstudio.com.
We will acknowledge receipt within five (5) business days and begin a thorough review process.
A written response outlining our findings and proposed next steps will be provided within ten (10) business days.
If the matter involves an ethical or clinical concern, it will be reviewed in alignment with EMDRIA, ACA, and state licensing board standards for professional conduct and client rights.
Conflict of Interest
We are committed to maintaining clarity and boundaries in all therapeutic relationships.
If a potential or perceived conflict of interest arises, it will be handled with full transparency, ensuring that client trust, safety, and autonomy remain central to the process.
Our Commitment
We view feedback and grievances as opportunities for reflection, repair, and continued growth—not punishment. Each concern shared helps us deepen our accountability and refine our care.
Our mission is to create and sustain a therapeutic environment rooted in mutual respect, cultural humility, and community care, where clients can experience healing with integrity and dignity.
Accessibility and Consultation Environment
Accessibility Commitment
At Sankofa Healing Studio, we are deeply committed to accessibility and inclusion. We strive to ensure that every client can engage fully and comfortably in the EMDR Intensive process. If you require accommodations in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), please contact us at admin@sankofahealingstudio.org before your scheduled session so that we can ensure your needs are met with care and responsiveness.
Trauma-Sensitive and Healing Justice Approach
Each EMDR Intensive is facilitated through a trauma-sensitive and transformative justice lens, honoring the pace, culture, and lived experiences of every client.
We recognize that engaging in intensive trauma work can evoke powerful emotions, and we will always move at a rhythm that supports your capacity for safety, embodiment, and integration.
Our therapists are trained to help you navigate this process with grounding, compassion, and respect—centering your autonomy and the wisdom of your own body throughout.
Respecting Boundaries
Your EMDR Intensive is a collaborative process guided by mutual respect and transparency. You are encouraged to communicate your comfort level at any point during the experience.
While deep emotional processing is often part of this work, you are never required to share more than feels right for you. Your therapist will help you stay regulated and resourced, offering grounding and stabilization techniques throughout the intensive to ensure emotional safety and balance.
Creating a Safe and Supportive Healing Environment
Our priority is to maintain a space that feels nurturing, nonjudgmental, and culturally attuned. Every element of the EMDR Intensive—from assessment to closure—is structured to foster trust and containment.
We hold this work as sacred, honoring your story and your nervous system’s innate wisdom to move toward healing at its own pace.
You are invited to ask questions, take pauses, and practice self-care throughout your intensive. Healing does not require urgency—it requires presence, compassion, and safety.
Collaborative and Embodied Healing
Though EMDR intensives are therapist-guided, they are co-created with you. Together, we will explore somatic awareness, bilateral stimulation, and ancestral grounding practices to support release and integration.
This embodied approach enhances your connection to self while deepening insight, emotional regulation, and alignment with your healing goals.
